Presidential Candidate interview with TheLegion (Political)

This article has been created in order to enlighten the UK citizens, for the coming elections. This has been an interview with one of the presidential candidates, TheLegion , who’s the current CP of UK. Comments have been made by ArchDukeJohn , as I could find anyone else that would like to comment. ArchDukeJohn is a presidential candidate himself. I encourage you all to go read all the three presidential candidate articles that have been published, and vote for who you believe will be the best to rule the country!

I initially had some questions on TheLegion ’s past and basic questions, though they filled up and above the character limit for an article. Therefor, I’ll be bringing this directly into some more political questions. Trying to get around all topics was a little challenge, though I’d say it turned out alright.

Ministry of Foreign Affairs

What alliances or relations are you trying to create/improve?
What I am trying to create/improve is the relationship between UK and some of our neighbours. I will try to gain allies in nearby countries and preferably in Europe to stabilise that front. I want to either secure our western borders or eastern ones (those that can be reached in North America, and those that can be reached in Europe). I will try to improve our relations with Poland and continue to work with them, but i have have been criticised for not working with, or even "abandoning" our friends Estonia and Sweden. So to answer your question, I am trying to improve the relations with Poland but will also focus on our friends Estonia and Sweden. I will try to create alliances with nearby countries and preferably in Europe and North America.
- TheLegion

Recently, an article written by Raistlin quoted you, saying you’d like to cooperate with Turkey, if the desire is mutual. How has this cooperation evolved since?
Unfortunately we have not yet even started any real cooperation, and this is due to our major focus on diplomacy near us rather than far away. I still want to cooperate with Turkey and in the future there will most surely be cooperation if both sides agree to it.
- TheLegion

I think alliances should allow ourselves to expand our borders, so we can get resources and supplies better. This means, alliances need to be further away than our borders, so we do not limit ourselves.
- ArchDukeJohn

Ministry of Finance

How’s the current situation regarding supplies?
I would say that it is not very good, and I can actually blame myself on that one. The reason is that I have put a lot of my own focus and also my governments focus on diplomacy and to make profit so that we can invest in improvements of the government business and also to use for possible government programmes in the future. I mentioned supplies in my presidential candidacy article, but I must also say that I have not really done much about this, and it is a failure from my perspective and probably from others perspectives as well. Diplomacy and profit will again be our main focuses, but I will work for improvements of UK and establishment of government programmes.
What stocks do you aim to hit?
My goal to hit is to be able to give full supplies to those who work for UK Org, but also to be able to always provide supplies during events or wars, both our allies wars and our own. I will however have to do a lot of work for it to actually happen and I can't take much time away from my other duties as CP of the United Kingdom. This will probably take some times, might even take more time than this coming term if I am elected, but I will work for it and put my ministers on the case to work out a good system that can give those who work for UK Org full supplies and also try to always have a certain amount of supplies ready to be used in events and wars.
- TheLegion

Do you plan on rising some taxes?
My government, if I am elected might raise some taxes if we deem it necessary. Taxes will be raised if I or my MoF deem it necessary, though we will first be discussing it within the government before acting. On these kind of things we will have to rely on congress to vote for it, either willingly or through compromising with the government.
- TheLegion

It should always be aimed to be stable, so that we are prepared for wars, without needing to heavily rely on allies. Therefor we should have large supplies of most currencies, including gold enough to circulate, so that we can buy what we can’t produce ourselves, as well as raws and supplies.
- ArchDukeJohn

Ministry of Defense

Are we ready to defend our own or allied core regions in the case of an attack?
I will have to answer no on that question, both regarding our own and allied cores. The reason behind this is that we are not organised enough, we are not united and i would even say we are not stabile enough to actually defend our own or allied cores, at least not fully and not to make decisive damage for our allies as of now.
- TheLegion

What do you think of the possibility of a war with the Netherlands?
It wouldn't be entirely impossible and there is people who want us to attack NL ourselves. That option is always open if something was to change from how things are currently going. But before we would attack NL, we would have to talk to the people and make sure we have support. Then we must also include that the Netherlands is "vassalized" to Iran in the discussions in the country and hear peoples opinion about it, though it might be a good idea, not everyone takes this "vassalization" of the Netherlands seriously.
- TheLegion

Again, it is required that the MoF is able to sustain us with supplies and gold to upgrade and expand.
- ArchDukeJohn

Ministry of Internal Affairs

Aren’t you afraid, that more press activity might influence the voters decisions in future elections?
The very reason I want more press activity is to let people influence, that is because I believe that everyone have the right to influence things, then of course it depends on how they try to influence and such, but the main point is that even though it might influence the opinions of people and their decisions in a way that might be bad for me or even make people favour someone else rather than me, it is still the choice of the people what they want to do and it is not my responsibility to stop them from influencing. What is my responsibility however, is to keep UK stabile and try to avoid civil wars or similar.
- TheLegion

Are you happy with the current communication between citizens and the government?
No i am not, this is partially because of the lack of government articles, which I will try to change during either this coming term or the one coming after that. There will be a lot to do and the government might not have enough time to finish all the things we want to do, it might even take more than 1 or 2 terms to finish some things entirely. But i can say that the communications must be improved a lot between the government and the citizens of UK.

I can also take on the responsibility for the failure in communications, and this is most likely due to my focus on other things and therefore i have not been very active when it comes to improving the communications between the government and the people. My hope is that an increase in the amount of articles from both the government and the people will be a solution to the problem with communication and the government can also answer peoples articles regarding political matters, either through an article made by the government, or through the shouts.

- TheLegion

I believe there should be programmes that allow citizens to fund independent papers, and to get every org into use for papers, like the MoF should produce a report on finances bi-monthly, MoD should report on the state of defense etc.
- ArchDukeJohn

Elections

Another candidate for the election is ArchDukeJohn . You’ve priorly been part of his government as Minister of Defense. What’s your relation with him nowadays?
My current relation to ArchDukeJohn is probably best described as neutral. I do not have anything against him nor do I really "like" him, in my point of view he has done nothing that makes me like or hate him.
- TheLegion

Are you afraid, that you might lose your job as the president of the United Kingdom to any of the other candidates this election?
I I am a bit afraid of that yes, mostly because of our work, possibly even all of it might be ruined ot thrown away. I don’t know if ArchDukeJohn will make any good decisions, since I don’t entirely know his political agenda. Neither do I really know Bond007, especially as he hasn’t put up any real presidential candidate article.
My hope is of course that I will be elected. But if that’s not the case, we will first have to see what they will do before judging them entirely. We can of course judge and criticise their political agenda if they present it, just as people can judge mine and criticise it.

About the game:

USA as a world power? In E-Sim it is possible!

In E-Sim we have a huge, living world, which is a mirror copy of the Earth. Well, maybe not completely mirrored, because the balance of power in this virtual world looks a bit different than in real life. In E-Sim, USA does not have to be a world superpower, It can be efficiently managed as a much smaller country that has entrepreneurial citizens that support it's foundation. Everything depends on the players themselves and how they decide to shape the political map of the game.

Work for the good of your country and see it rise to an empire.

Activities in this game are divided into several modules. First is the economy as a citizen in a country of your choice you must work to earn money, which you will get to spend for example, on food or purchase of weapons which are critical for your progress as a fighter. You will work in either private companies which are owned by players or government companies which are owned by the state. After progressing in the game you will finally get the opportunity to set up your own business and hire other players. If it prospers, we can even change it into a joint-stock company and enter the stock market and get even more money in this way.

In E-Sim, international wars are nothing out of the ordinary.

Become an influential politician.

The second module is a politics. Just like in real life politics in E-Sim are an extremely powerful tool that can be used for your own purposes. From time to time there are elections in the game in which you will not only vote, but also have the ability to run for the head of the party you're in. You can also apply for congress, where once elected you will be given the right to vote on laws proposed by your fellow congress members or your president and propose laws yourself. Voting on laws is important for your country as it can shape the lives of those around you. You can also try to become the head of a given party, and even take part in presidential elections and decide on the shape of the foreign policy of a given state (for example, who to declare war on). Career in politics is obviously not easy and in order to succeed in it, you have to have a good plan and compete for the votes of voters.

You can go bankrupt or become a rich man while playing the stock market.

The international war.

The last and probably the most important module is military. In E-Sim, countries are constantly fighting each other for control over territories which in return grant them access to more valuable raw materials. For this purpose, they form alliances, they fight international wars, but they also have to deal with, for example, uprisings in conquered countries or civil wars, which may explode on their territory. You can also take part in these clashes, although you are also given the opportunity to lead a life as a pacifist who focuses on other activities in the game (for example, running a successful newspaper or selling products).

At the auction you can sell or buy your dream inventory.

E-Sim is a unique browser game. It's creators ensured realistic representation of the mechanisms present in the real world and gave all power to the players who shape the image of the virtual Earth according to their own. So come and join them and help your country achieve its full potential.
